Alberto Coz Fernández

Dr. Alberto Coz: Received his B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering in 1994, his M.S. in 1997 and his PhD in 2001 from the University of Cantabria, Spain. Later, he was a Researcher and Teaching Assistant in the Chemical Engineering and Inorganic Chemistry Department. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece, from 2005 to 2006. At present, he works as an Associate Professor at the University of Cantabria and as Vice-Dean on International Relations in the School of Nautical Studies. His research interests are in the areas of Biorefinery, Waste Valorization in Biofuels and Bioproducts and Characterisation of lignocellulosic materials. He has worked in the direction and collaboration in Research and Development Projects at International, European and National level as well as Transference Results Projects with the industrial sector. He has participated in 50 SCI papers (20 with International collaboration), H index equal to 18, 1 invention patent, 126 International Congresses and the supervision of 6 PhDs. He also worked as a researcher at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Imperial College London, UK in 2011, at the Forest Products Technology Department of Aalto University, Finland, in 2014, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University College London in 2016, and in the Cooperative University of Colombia in 2018. In addition, he is member of the Board of ISCOWA Association, Member of the Management Committee of the Cost Action FP1407 and Substitute Member in Cost Action CA17128.

Dr. Alberto Coz: Recibió su B.Sc. en Ingeniería Industrial en 1994, su M.S. En 1997 y su doctorado en 2001 por la Universidad de Cantabria, España. Más tarde, fue investigador y docente en el Departamento de Ingeniería Química y Química Inorgánica. Fue becario postdoctoral en la Universidad Técnica de Creta, Chania, Grecia, desde 2005 hasta 2006. Actualmente, trabaja como Profesor Titular de Universidad en la Universidad de Cantabria y como subdirector de relaciones internacionales en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Náutica. Sus intereses en investigación se centran en las áreas de biorrefinería, valorización de residuos en bio-combustibles y bio-productos dentro del concepto de economía circular. Ha dirigido y colaborado en proyectos de investigación y desarrollo a nivel internacional, europeo (1 dirigido) y nacional (1 dirigido), así como en proyectos de resultados de transferencia con el sector industrial (1 dirigido). Ha participado en 50 artículos de SCI (20 con colaboración internacional), índice H igual a 18, 1 patente de invención, 126 Congresos internacionales y la supervisión de 6 PhD. También trabajó como investigador en el Departamento de Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental de Imperial College London, Reino Unido en 2011, en el Departamento de Tecnología de Productos Forestales de la Universidad de Aalto, Finlandia, en 2014, en el Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica de University College London en 2016 y en la jefatura de investigación en ingeniería de la Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, en Medellín, Bogotá y Villavicencio en 2018. Además, es miembro de la Junta de la Asociación ISCOWA, miembro del Comité de Administración de la Acción Cost FP1407 y miembro suplente en la Acción Cost CA17128.
