Researchers from the Green Engineering and Resources (GER) Research Group at the University of Cantabria, Carlos Arce, Alberto Coz and Tamara Llano, have recently published a new scientific article in an MDPI journal, further contributing to the group’s research activities in the fields of sustainability, resource management and circular bioeconomy. The publication entitled “Deep Eutectic Solvent Pretreatment for Cellulose Enrichment from Coffee Waste” has been made possible thanks to the research and networking activities developed within the European projects CELISE (https://celise.unican.es/) and BAPUR (https://bapur-project.unican.es/), both coordinated by the University of Cantabria and the GER research team.
The article is the result of collaborative work carried out in an international context, bringing together knowledge and experience generated through these European initiatives. This new publication highlights the importance of using novel green biomass processing treatments like Deep Eutectic Solvents to hemicelluloses depolymerization and delignification. The work also reinforces GER’s commitment to advancing knowledge and transferring innovative technologies that contribute to the green transition and the circular bioeconomy.
